Florence Aliberti

Since 1994, Florence has been a member of the Lehman College Community where she worked as an assistant in the offices of Financial Aid and Human Resources. In 2003, she took over the position of Program Assistant for the CUNY Honors College/Lehman Scholars Program, which led to her 2006 appointment as Academic Advisor for the Macaulay Honors College. Ms. Aliberti serves as Lehman's campus Co-representative for the J.K. Watson Fellowship. She holds a B.A. cum laude in English Literature and is pursuing an MSEd in Higher Education Administration at Baruch's School of Public Affairs. Florence finds her relationship with the students to be rewarding on both a professional and personal level. It is because of her commitment and dedication to both the students and the program that she has gained their confidence and trust.

Stacey Backenroth joined Macaulay Honors College in the Fall of 2007. She is one of two advisors at Baruch College. Stacey earned her B.A. in Art from Brooklyn College where she studied film, photography, sculpture, graphic design and art history. Stacey received her M.S.ED in Higher Education Administration from Baruch’s School of Public Affairs where she studied higher education, organizational behaviors and non-profit finance and management. Along with advising student at Baruch, Stacey teaches an undergraduate course in Leadership Theory at Brooklyn College.

Previous to joining Macaulay Honors College, Stacey worked in Alumni Relations at Brooklyn College, engaging alumni in the life of the college to support both current and future students. Prior to her work in alumni relations, Stacey advised high school honor students enrolled in undergraduate courses at Brooklyn College through the College Now Program.

Stacey currently lives in Brooklyn with her husband. She is currently working on writing her first novel.

Pamela Degotardi

Pamela Degotardi (Ph.D., CUNY Graduate Center 2000: M.A St. John’s University NY 1989; B. Social Work, University of Queensland, Australia) is a licensed developmental health psychologist. She began work at Queens College as an Academic Advisor for the Macaulay Honors College in 2002. She loves mentoring undergraduate honors students and guiding them on their academic journey. Prior to this, Dr. Degotardi held research, clinical, and teaching positions at Schneider Children’s Hospital and St John’s University. Dr. Degotardi’s research interests include: family coping when a child has a chronic illness; and intervention strategies for children and adolescents with pain disorders. This research was funded by grants from the Arthritis Foundation, and the Research and Education Foundation of the American College of Rheumatology. Dr. Degotardi has published articles on these topics in health and pediatric psychology journals. She frequently presents her research findings at international conferences. Dr. Degotardi is currently President-Elect of the Association of Rheumatology Health Professionals, and a member of the Executive Committee of the American College of Rheumatology.

Lisa French

Lisa French has been the Honors College Advisor at the College of Staten Island for three years. Before coming to the Macaulay Honors College, Lisa worked as the Assistant to the Dean of Undergraduate Studies and with College Now both at Brooklyn College. Prior to her work with CUNY, Lisa toured the country with the National Theatre for Children, performed in London, worked Off-Broadway as well as in regional theatre. Lisa earned her BFA in theatre from Adelphi University and her MFA in theatre from Brooklyn College. Lisa continues to work with emerging New York City playwrights.

Charlotte Glasser

Charlotte Glasser, L.M.S.W., is a teacher, counselor, and social worker, with 30 years of experience working in both public and private education. Originally from Bakersfield, California, Ms. Glasser earned a B.A. in English from Middlebury College and an M.S.S.W. from the Columbia University School of Social Work. Her years of service in education include both teaching and counseling, and she has worked with age groups ranging from children to adults.

Ms. Glasser previously worked as a multiple-family-group facilitator for a violence-prevention program in the public schools of the Bronx, New York. She has also worked closely with public and private school classroom teachers, both as a counseling consultant and as a teaching writing consultant. Ms. Glasser was trained in teaching expository writing at the Bread Loaf School of English and was granted three consecutive scholarships to the Bread Loaf Writers’ Conference, where she studied poetry with current American poets.

Ms. Glasser is the mother of two sons, ages 21 and 17, and is an active member of the parenting community of the Upper West Side of Manhattan. She is fond of reading great literature, hiking in the Green Mountains, kayaking at Cape Cod, and studying contemporary ballet. Ms Glasser is a former tennis champion and an enthusiastic supporter of athletics and recreation.

Frances Northcutt

Frances Northcutt has been an academic advisor at the Hunter College campus of Macaulay since Fall 2006. Prior to joining Macaulay, she worked with students at the University of California-Berkeley and the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia. She received her BA in English from Wesleyan University, with honors for her thesis, Image, Story, Voice: Poetry in Ocean Form. She has also earned an Ed.M. from Temple University's higher education administration program. Frances writes about college student issues for various publications and edited the advice books How to Get A's in College and How to Survive Your Freshman Year (third edition).

In her spare time, she reads every novel she can get her hands on, attends two book clubs and one writing group, bakes chocolate chip cookies, and explores New York City's many fascinating neighborhoods with her husband Noah. They live in Manhattan.

Lena Tuck, M.A. joins Macaulay from the Admissions Office at Columbia Business School. She received her BA in History at Binghamton University, SUNY and her MA in Higher and Post-secondary Education at Teachers College, Columbia University.

While at Binghamton she served as President and Peer Advisor for the Ronald McNair Post-Baccalaureate Scholars Program and a Resident Advisor for the Office of Residential Life. Her research interests include access and persistence in higher education for minority students, as well as academic enrichment programming. She hopes to return to school to pursue her doctorate within 5 years.

Lena is excited to be a part of the Macaulay team and hopes to be able to help students navigate their college experience and reach their full potential every step of the way.

Getting Here

Macaulay is easily accessible by subway. The #1 train stops around the corner, at 66th Street and Broadway. and the 5, 7, 10, 20, 104, buses, as well as the 66 crosstown bus, all stop within one block.

If coming by car, please pay careful attention to parking regulations. On-street parking, especially on weekdays, can be very difficult, but there are many commercial parking garages in the area.
