New York Community Trust Grant Application

Opportunities Fund – Funded by The New York Community Trust
(Established in Community Funds by the co-founder of The Reader’s Digest Association)

ELIGIBILITY & APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

  1. Generally, Macaulay Scholars applying for this funding must have a family income of $75,000 or less. (Macaulay Honors College will obtain this information from the FAFSA each Macaulay Scholar has already filed.)
  2. Macaulay Scholars whose family income exceeds $75,000 may be eligible for the New York Community Trust Grant if they can demonstrate that their families have “extraordinary financial responsibilities.” Students applying under this exception must attach an explanation and appropriate supporting documentation to their application.
  3. Macaulay Scholars must be NYC Residents to apply for this fund.
  4. Recipients of the New York Community Trust Grant may be asked to complete a brief online survey after completing their internship experience. This survey is administered by the New York Community Trust. The Trust may also ask recipients to provide a brief written or verbal narrative concerning their internship experience.
  5. To apply for the New York Community Trust Grant, Macaulay Scholars must complete the application below. A statement of justification AND an updated transcript (unofficial is acceptable) MUST accompany the application. Candidates must currently be in good academic standing.
  6. Macaulay Scholars who receive the New York Community Trust Grant are NOT permitted to receive other sources of funding for their internship.
  7. Priority will be given to internship positions that meet the following areas: (1) sciences, (2) government, policy and law, (3) social work/psychology. Consideration will also be given to internships outside of these areas as well as support for students participating in the New Media Lab at Macaulay.
