Join us for the Career Services Association of CUNY (CSAC) Annual Conference.
Friday January 25, 2013
John Jay College of Criminal Justice
524 West 59th Street
In 2011 CUNY Chancellor Matthew Goldstein assembled a prestigious Task Force to study trends in the job market in New York City and issued a report on “Jobs for New York’s Future.” Members of the Task Force studied five industry groups and asked professionals for their recommendations about what is needed to prepare students for the workforce of tomorrow. Given that CUNY graduates represent an important component of the New York City workforce, industry leaders stressed the importance of collaborative programs with CUNY colleges and campus career centers to make sure that students are being trained with the skills needed to engage in the job search process and to meet the requirements of tomorrow’s jobs.
The Career Services Association of CUNY, the professional association of Directors of CUNY campus career service centers, is hosting this conference to disseminate information about the CUNY Jobs Report and to provide information from recruiters and interns from the five industries who are currently collaborating with campus career service offices and hiring CUNY students in those industries. Panelists will speak about trends in the industry and their thoughts about what campus career professionals can do to prepare good candidates for the workforce.
Learning outcomes for attendees: an increased level of confidence in assisting students in finding entry-level positions in the particular industry (based on panel selection) and an increased knowledge about how social media can be used in the job search.
