The Macaulay Honors College building on West 67th Street near Lincoln Center in Manhattan is a wonderful resource that we encourage you to utilize. Students are welcome to use the building's amenities to study, conduct meetings, hold events and parties, and more to enhance their college lives.

Building facilities include state-of-the-art classrooms, a reading room, a lecture hall, student performance space, a screening room, seminar and meeting rooms, administrative offices, and a commons area for gathering. With appropriate training, you are encouraged to use any of the equipment in these areas. If you would like to reserve space in the Macaulay building, please complete a room reservation request.

Click here for Directions to the Macaulay building. The building is open Monday-Friday 7am-11pm, Saturday and Sunday 8am-11pm. If the doors are locked when you arrive, please ring the doorbell located just above the left doorknob for access. Everyone needs to present CUNY ID upon entering the building (guests of CUNY students must also present ID). While in the building, all students and guests must follow the Building Use Guidelines (click here to download a copy in PDF format).

In its relatively short life, the West 67th Street building has quickly become a thriving hub of intellectual, cultural, and business activity not just for the Macaulay community but for our entire neighborhood. The welcoming, convenient space is sought even for non-CUNY functions. Giving students access to this wonderful facility is a priority, but because of heavy demand, rooms are not always available. Reserving your space well in advance is encouraged. See below for a description of the facilities and instructions on how to request use. PLEASE NOTE: The fourth floor is for staff only. Anyone wishing to speak with a member of staff on the fourth floor must be announced by security.

Reading Room (1st Floor) and Commons Area (Lower Level)

Students are free to use both the reading room and commons area during building hours; no reservation is required. The reading room, with computers and a library, is dedicated to quiet study. The commons area may be used for group projects, large meetings, and social activities. On occasion these areas may be reserved for official functions, in which case students will be directed to other appopriate areas in the building.

Performance Space (Lower Level) and Screening Room (2nd Floor)

The performance space, also known as the cabaret, contains a stage, sound equipment, and seating area suitable for theatrical, musical, and other presentations. The screening room, with a 72-person occupancy, is a state-of-the-art film venue. Students may reserve the performance space and screening room via the Student Room Request Form. For screening room requests, a tech liaison must be appointed. This person will receive equipment, policies, and procedures training.

A/V Equipment

A/V equipment in the classrooms and in other areas of the building is available for students' use, with appropriate training, via the Student Room Request Form. If you'd like to use A/V equipment outside of the Macaulay building, you can request to sign out equipment such as video or still cameras, by submitting the A/V Request Form. A large-format poster printer is available as well, Monday-Friday, 9-5pm. This must be arranged through the Printing Request Form.

Classrooms (2nd and 3rd Floors)

Classrooms and conference rooms are available to students when not otherwise in use. Each classroom is set up with a laptop and projection system, which is available for student use. Classrooms can be used for large group study and meetings. Students arrange to use these areas via the Student Room Request Form.

Events

Macaulay welcomes students wishing to host meetings, programs, and events. For small group activities, you must complete and submit the Student Room Request Form at least 10 days prior to the activity. For larger activities (30 people or more), or multiple activities, or activities involving invited speakers, approval of a sponsoring Macaulay staff member (usually the Associate Director of Student Development) is required. To obtain approval, students must submit their event plans 45 days prior to the proposed event date, using Student Event Planning Guide.

Student Room Request Form

• To request use of classrooms, performance space, screening room, and on-site A/V equipment.
• For groups of 15-30 people must be submitted 30 days in advance of the activity date.
• For smaller groups and occasions, the form is due 10 days in advance of the date the room is needed.

Student Event Planning Guide

• To plan for student events involving invited speakers, multiple rooms, and/or anticipated audiences of 30 or more people.
• Due at least 45 days in advance of event date.

A/V Request Form

• To borrow equipment for use outside of Macaulay.
• Examples of equipment include video cameras and still cameras.

Printing Request Form

• To schedule an appointment to print an oversized document on the large format printer.
• Examples include event posters, presentations, and meeting agendas.

Guidelines for General Building Use

• All Macaulay students are welcome whenever the building is open.
• Guests are also welcome if they are accompanied by a Macaulay student. Macaulay students are responsible for their guests. Everyone must present proper identification and sign in.
• After use, all rooms must be returned to "broom clean" condition. In other words, furniture is to be returned to the original positions, all trash bagged, etc.
• Sound must be kept at appropriate levels at all times, both inside and outside of the building.
• Candles, open flames, and other hazardous materials are prohibited.
• Alcohol, smoking, and use of illegal substances are forbidden.

Additional Guidelines for Meetings, Programs and Events

• To request space for small group meetings and activities (less than 15 individuals), students must submit the Student Room Request Form at least 10 days prior to the activity.
• To request space for larger group activities (15-30 individuals), students must submit the Student Room Request Form at least 30 days prior to the activity.
• For larger activities (more than 30 individuals) multiple activities, or for activities involving invited speakers, students must submit the Student Event Planning Guide at least 45 days in advance of the proposed event date.
• A student liaison, and an alternate, must be appointed for each use request. Both the liaison and the alternate take responsibility that all guests adhere to the guidelines for space use. The liaison or the alternate must be present in the room during the entire time the room is in use. The liaison or the alternate must sign out with security after all guests leave at the end of the event.
• If A/V or other equipment is to be used, prior approval is required. A tech liaison must be appointed and trained by Macaulay staff before any equipment can be used. Please indicate equipment needs and tech liaison on the Student Room Request Form or the Event Planning Guide.
• If refreshments are to be served, prior approval is required. Please indicate refreshment use on Student Room Request Form or Event Planning Guide.
• Items (including signs) may be posted only in areas designated for that purpose. Special approval is required to fasten anything to walls, doors, glass, ceilings, and other surfaces.
• Students and guests may only use the specific rooms designated on the Request Form, as other rooms may be scheduled for use.
• If property damage occurs as a result of a student event, the student liaison and alternate will be responsible for repairs or other costs.

Individuals or groups who do not adhere to these guidelines may be denied the use of Macaulay Honors College facilities in the future.
