The Horace W. Goldsmith Scholars Program
at the City University of New York
The purpose of the Goldsmith Scholars Program at The City University of New York is to identify and support future leaders for whom graduate education is an essential foundation of their aspirations. These high achieving students are then guided through their application process, with special emphasis on applying for national scholarships and fellowships to pursue graduate studies.
Students are selected to become Goldsmith Scholars during their sophomore or junior year. They participate in a personal statement writing workshop; interviewing how-to events, and they attend special functions to expose them to leaders in a wide variety of fields. Scholars also benefit from networking with former Goldsmith scholars and with other winners of major scholarships.
Because the sophomore and junior years are the ideal time to prepare for fellowship applications, we invite students from the Classes of 2011 and 2012 to apply for the Goldsmith Scholar Program. To apply for the Program, you need to submit a resume, a personal statement, and a letter of recommendation from a faculty member.
Additionally, your Honors Advisor must sign on the second page, indicating his or her support for your application. You must submit the resume and personal statement along with the application form. This material can be mailed or e-mailed to Mike Lamb.
The letter from a faculty member must be mailed by the faculty member directly to Mike Lamb. Please review the instructions for submitting the letter of recommendation and writing the personal statement.
The Goldsmith Scholars Program has already developed into a powerful network of the nation's most able and talented leaders of the future.
