Class of 2018 Orientation
Congratulations to the Macaulay Honors College Class of 2018!

IMPORTANT: We need several pieces of information from you before orientation activities. Please do not delay these (and please remember that participation in orientation is expected of all incoming freshmen):

Sunday, August 24th, 8:30am – 4:00pm
Outward Bound Day at Lehman College
The emphasis of Day #1 of orientation is on community building, skills building and class bonding, and will be held on the Lehman College campus, led by trained Outward Bound staff as well as returning Macaulay student leaders. Please read the following “welcome” from the Directors of New York City Outward Bound for specific instructions:

HOW TO GET THERE
The 4, or D trains to Bedford Park Blvd Bronx, NY
The Bx2, Bx10, Bx22, or Bx28 to Lehman College
Limited bus transportation is available to bring students from Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island directly to the Lehman College orientation site. Pick up and drop off locations are below, and buses are provided free of charge.
From Brooklyn College - 2900 Bedford Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11210 Pick up time 7:30AM
From Queens College - 65-30 Kissena Blvd, Flushing, NY 11367 Pick up time 7:30AM (@Main Gate)
From College of Staten Island - 2800 Victory Blvd. SI 10314 - Pick up time 7AM (@Parking Lot 6)
Please download the transportation permission slip, print and sign it and bring it. Every student MUST have a signed permission slip to board the bus, and bus captains will collect them upon arrival.

WHAT WILL THE DAY BE LIKE
You will be walking in small groups of about 15 students at Lehman College throughout the day. Lunch will be provided. For most of the day you will participate in teambuilding activities that may include running, lifting, jumping, and maybe even dancing. Be prepared for a fun, active day!
WHAT TO WEAR DURING THE PROGRAM
This is a rain or shine event. You will be spending all day outside. Dress appropriately for the weather and for a physically active day. It's best to wear comfortable, loose fitting clothing that may get dirty and sneakers or athletic shoes. No sandals please! Bring lots of energy and a sense of adventure.
It is very important for our staff to know about any medical issues that might affect your participation in any way. Please include any medical concerns or allergies. All correspondence will be kept strictly confidential. NYC Outward Bound reserves the right to deny participation, in whole or part, to anyone for whom a signed Liability Release is not submitted.

Macaulay Community Resources Day at Hunter College
*Your specific campus may also hold a separate meeting between 9:00am – 12:00pm
Day #2 is your Community Resources Day, and on this day you will meet the Macaulay Academic Affairs and Student Development staff teams; your Macaulay campus Advisors; representatives from the Macaulay Scholars Council and our numerous Macaulay student organizations; as well as representatives from a select number of our community service partner organizations.
- 9 AM - 12 PM
- Depending on your specific campus, you MAY have morning meetings scheduled during this time. Be sure to check with the Macaulay Advisors or Director on your campus for details.
- 1:00pm - 2:00pm
- All freshmen: Academic Affairs "Welcome" meeting at the Assembly Hall, Hunter North bldg.
- 2:00pm – 3:15pm
- Group A (tbd) = Advisor meetings, Hunter West bldg. classrooms
- Group B (tbd) = Community Resources Fair, Hunter West bldg., Student Café, 3rd floor
- 3:30pm – 4:45pm
- Group B = Advisor meetings (same as above)
- Group A = Community Resources Fair (same as above)
HOW TO GET THERE
Take the "6" to the 68th Street/Hunter College station or the "F" to the 63rd Street/Lexington Avenue station.
Take the M98, M101, M102, M103 or the Crosstown M66 to East 68th Street and Lexington Avenue.
Tuesday, August 26th
Tech Day at Macaulay, 35 West 67th Street
is Tech Day, when you will receive your brand new MacBook Air! You will also participate in hands-on workshops with the Instructional Technology Fellows and your classmates. You will be getting your Macaulay eportfolio account, and your own Macaulay email address. You MUST bring a photo ID, NO exceptions.

Please note that no Macaulay Honors College events are scheduled for August 27th, however, it is likely that each home campus will be scheduling its own events on that day, and your attendance will be expected.
The final Orientation item also happens to be your first Macaulay Common Event:
Macaulay Night at the Museum – Wednesday, September 3, 7:00pm
An exclusive welcome to the Class of 2018 at the Brooklyn Museum, and an introduction to the experience of art and its role in the life of the city
