Aleksandra Sher

Life is like a mirror-you always get a better result when you smile into it.

My name is Aleksandra Sher and I can honestly say that I’m an optimist. I always look to find the brighter side of things, or the silver lining. Except in my case, I transform that lining into a crouchet pattern which very quickly threatens to take over the whole pillow! I find that this outlook helps me get the best out of life and am always encouraging my friends to try and do the same-but it’s not as easy as it seems! I am looking forward to the college experience as a chance to learn new things, meet new people and make memories which will last a lifetime. Though I have a habit of getting into my studies, I have made it my goal to leave more time for fun. I enjoy going on adventures which range from operas and museums to roller coasters and ice skating. I am always open to new things and manage to laugh when I may be making a fool out of myself…slightly! I aspire to be an investment banker (not just for the money, I actually like it) and hope that I can combine that dream with the one of a family and several children. At the least, I look forward to trying it out.

Peter Yip

Hello, my name is Peter Yip. Everybody calls me Yip.I am an American born Chinese but I go back to Hong Kong every summer to visit my relatives. I lived on Staten Island since I was five. I usually takes me two hours to get to class but somehow I manage to get there early. I come from Susan E. Wagner High School’s Scholars Academy.

I am what society would define as a “nerd”. I read and collect comic books and I use references to things like movies or shows as often as I can. I am proud to be a nerd because it makes me unique. I am an enthusiastic video gamer-but studies do come first. I also enjoy drawing, even though I am not good at it. I am also a big music fan- I can listen to almost any music and enjoy it. I am a very avid reader in anything. I go on wikipedia or read a encyclopedia just to read random pages to gain information.

My only dream in life is to see everyone I care about never be sad again. I only want to see them smile. Impossible? Maybe. Childish? Definitely. But it’s my dream and I’m sticking to it.  I will now leave you with the immortal words of Mr. Spock- “Live long and prosper”.

Sungjoon Yoon

My name is Sungjoon. You can call me Hugh if you want (that’s my nickname). I was born in Korea. I grew up there for 9 years. I came to New York when I was 16 (yes, I’m a fob). I went to Forest Hills high school. I currently live in Flushing, Queens. It takes about an hour and a half to come to school. But I guess I can’t complain about it since there are students who are coming from Staten Island.

I love eating food (I am actually eating watermelon as I am writing this post). Sushi, Udon, and Burrito are my favorites. But I pretty much like any food that is edible. I’m the type of guy who orders random dishes in the restaurants. I like to try foods that I have never tasted before and explore foods from many different cultures. New York City is the best place to explore foods since there are lots of restaurants. One of the best place that I went was the Basta Pasta. Eating Pasta there is such a blissful experience. And the Atmosphere is great (great date place!). It’s sad that there aren’t many good places to eat and hangout near Baruch. If anyone who reads my post knows a great place, please let me know.

Another thing that I enjoy is rock climbing. I only tried it twice, but I totally got into it. There’s an indoor climbing gym in Brooklyn called the Brooklyn Boulders. It’s a little bit pricey leisure activity, but it’s worth it. Rock Climbing not only helps you to build up your body, but it also helps you to keep your mind focused. Plus, it’s a great place to hang out!

My current goal is to enjoy my college life as much as I can. As Baruch is in the center of New York City, we are privileged to have unique experiences and opportunities. Art is one of the great things that the city has to offer. And I’m excited to experience and learn arts in NYC through this course.
