Fort Minor is my second biggest rap inspiration. Many know of Fort Minor a.k.a. Mike Shinoda as the rapper in the band Linkin Park. However, Fort Minor has also come out with a solo album that contains thought provocating lyrics and emotional songs. He is an inspiration because of his genre-bending styles and powerful topics throughout his songs. The picture above is the album cover for Fort Minor's solo album, The Rising Tied.

This picture is the album cover for The Marshall Mathers LP, titled after Eminem’s legal name. It was released in 2000, and is the first album I bought by him. It became one of my favorite albums, and opened the door to Eminem becoming my favorite music artist. It includes many of my favorite songs by him, including The Way I Am and Stan.

This picture is the album cover for Eminem's most recent album, entitled Relapse. i listen to songs from this album almost everyday, which include Beautiful and Underground. Eminem is also coming out with a second Relapse album this year. I check online for new information regarding the upcoming album everyday.
My West Side Story
Sittin’ in high school, don’t know what I wanna be,
Til’ I graduated and applied to Macaulay,
Was accepted and thrilled,
Kids from Sea, Peters, and Hill,
But still clueless about life,
My future so far into sight,
We head off to CSI, say goodbye to our Mom,
Even though the travel sucks…just ask Dom,
Received my schedule and dreaded the classes,
Honors chemistry and psychology with the masses,
More chem. in lab, and communications, my major,
And finally, honors seminar, now this, sounds major,
The arts of New York, oh how fun this should be,
West Side Story songs in my head til’ I’m a hundred and three,
But I enter the class, with some hope that still lingers,
Still feelin’ happy I have a laptop in my fingers,
So we watch documentaries and hear poetry,
Hoping to add culture to the young students we be,
‘Cuz life’s a mere piece of art, just ask Professor Solomon,
She’s like our mother, and we are jus followin’,
‘Cuz a class is like a family, and you all are my siblings,
I jus don’t know who the father would be, I guess he’s gone missing,
‘Cuz everybody lives, but nobody really knows,
What one brings to the table, and the stories one holds,
You may see me as the class clown or maybe the spokesman,
But that’s only because I’m more honest and open,
Music helps tell everything we’re too scared to say,
It’s made me into the person that I am today,
I look to music when I’m mad, sad or happy,
From songs like Stan to shake that Laffy Taffy,
It’s a scapegoat from the real world, a chance for innovation,
A light to darkness, a key to the imagination,
It brings hope to many, and prosperity to some,
Emotion to all, and dislike to none,
Eminem was a inspiration, a true American Idol,
He inspired me to write lyrics when i was bored and idle,
He gave hope for a white Jersey boy to rap,
When kids said I should listen to rock, I ain’t black,
Which is why I use music to express myself today,
Hoping my professor thinks this is art, in some way.
