The highest point in Manhattan (pictured) is in Bennett Park, near Pinehurst Avenue and 183rd Street. This point, at 80.8 meters (265 ft.) above sea level,was the site of Fort Washington, a fort George Washington occupied during the Revolutionary War, and this neighborhood’s namesake.
