It was amazing to have had Mr. Judell as one of my first college professors. His lecture was a meeting I looked forward to going to every Monday and Wednesday. Each class was something new, and something entertaining. Going to class was like being in a talk show, with everyone, for an hour and forty minutes, in room 4/157. We sit down, listen to the host talk about random topics in the media, about his life, about our lives, and then delve into a little bit of each of our lives in discussions. We became almost like a family, sitting close to one another, learning about each other as we spoke and did presentations on what love meant to us, the types of music we listen to, and the kinds of jokes that made us laugh. Even those who seldom spoke were able to express themselves in the classroom, and I think we can each remember our classmates for what they brought in during their presentations. Every one of us formed close relationships with new friends that will last throughout our college careers and maybe even longer. We’ve come to experience so many types of art and visit such a large array of different city locations that we can understand why people would want to pay to travel halfway around the world to see what we could find just a few train stops away. I could not ask for a better culture-savvy professor than Mr. Judell to teach our class. I hope all our seminars are like this. Now we’re moving on, but my cherished memories are coming with me.

I agree that Prof. Judell’s class was a blast, and there could be no better. His true style made learning and incorportating the arts the New York city has to offer more fun to comprehend. But, I think this is ephermeral, and our happiness is basically over.

Now, with Chc10102, or “Peopling of New York City,” should “peopling’ even be a proper verb in the English dictionary, I can pretty much tell you that there will be at least 6-8 LONG papers during the course of the term, along with the other work. Also, and I hope I am wrong, but I doubt we can get a Professor who is as great as Prof. Judell.

That’s a good point Nahir. Peopling… doesn’t sound like the right word. You wouldn’t say, “Stop peopling the room, Nahir.” I would rename the class to maybe “Growth of New York City” or “Evolution: New York City.”

The next class isn’t going to top this one, but look on the bright side. We’re in the honors program, and the honors advisors like to pack some pretty sweet surprises. Like the laptop, the Macaulay Outward Bound orientation, and free Artsy events at the CUNY Graduate Center. Something tells me that next semester is going to be all right.
