The day most of the class went to Chelsea Galleries was an interesting one. It was raining and it was a long travel for many of us. I woke up in the morning and thought to myself, "Why the heck do I have to wake up and go to a stupid art gallery in this weather... ?" Of course I was also in a bad mood because the 7 train I take takes forever on Saturdays. When I arrived there, I was all alone and the first one, turns out I was 1 hour early of course, but I got bored and decided to walk into one of them on my own. The first one I went to was interesting because all the paintings were done in red and seemed to be "bloody." As I was just observing them, other people from the class start to arrive and the class started to travel together from one building to the other.

The day was fun and it was a good experience with friends. If the class wasn't together and you were alone in the rain walking from one gallery to the other, it would have probably been a dull day. I am not saying that art is boring of course, just that this event wasn't as good as the other events we did in this class.

These are the photos I have taken. I apologize for the bad quality because I used my phone but I think they are decent.

For your convenience I decided to upload to photobucket instead, so you can add more pictures or take the pictures etc etc.

Psh, I wasn’t bored without you guys on my Saturday at the Chelsea Art Galleries :D Of course, I wasn’t by myself either.
I really liked what you called “bloody” red paintings. They were also the first things that I saw. I didn’t think of it being as blood though until you mentioned it. That puts things in an interesting perspective. I suppose that that is what art is all about. It’s all in people’s perspectives.
It also wasn’t raining on the day I went so that was fun too :D

I agree that the weather was a negative factor. However, the fact that most of the class was actually there made it possible to have fun viewing different types of art and making several points about each specific one. Sure, most of the art seemed awkward…but being able to view them as a group rather than as an individual introduces several different perspectives. That might be necessary when trying to understand a work of art.

Viewing Andrew’s photos is a real trip down Memory Lane.
