2016-2017

Baruch

Class of 2018: Holden Stein

holden-stein

Hello everyone! I am excited to be serving as the VP of Finance for my second year now. Using the experience I have built up already, I look forward to building up our usage of Club Macaulay to benefit all of the clubs and student activities. In addition, I will tackle increasing our fundraising efforts and creating more opportunities for technology and career development.

I am personally entrepreneurial and am very passionate about small businesses and startups, while working for one myself! For this reason, I enjoy watching television shows like Shark Tank and The Profit. I like to spend my free time by trying new restaurants, going to concerts, taking “quick” naps, and pretending to know how to play soccer.

Class of 2019: Nicolette Hussain

Hi, everyone! My name is Nicolette and I am a sophomore at Baruch College. This will be my second year serving as an MSC Representative and I am incredibly excited to work with all of you! I will be serving as the VP of Academic Affairs this year, helping to facilitate conversation between the Macaulay administration and the student body on issues like Macaulay’s GPA requirement, new classes at Macaulay, and the effectiveness of seminar classes.

My major is finance, but I am also passionate about issues of education and national and state politics. I read fiction in my free time, and love to explore the museums and restaurants of the city! Looking forward to a great year!

Class of 2020: Christian Buonamassa

christian-buonamassa

Hey everybody! I’m Christian Buonamassa, the Freshmen Representative of Baruch College in the Macaulay Scholars Council. It is an honor to hold this position, and I’m very excited for the year ahead of us.   I’m from Massapequa, which is on Long Island. I graduated from Massapequa High School this past June. There, I was the President of the Student Government and the National Honor Society, and a captain of the Wrestling Team. I am a huge fan of the Jets and Knicks, which is rough, but I’m used to it. My hobbies include playing sports, working out, NBA 2K17, and hanging out with my friends. I’m majoring in Accounting at Baruch. I also plan on embracing all the unique opportunities that Macaulay, Baruch, and the Greatest City in the World have to offer.

Brooklyn

tania-mahmud

Hi! I’m a member of the IT/Communications Committee, which means I’ll be working with clubs to reach out to CUNY students and the public through social media.  I am majoring in Cultural Anthropology and Archaeology. My academic/career interests include global health and working with immigrant and nonwhite communities. Macaulay has given me the opportunities to pursue my passions, and travel abroad to Panama, Nicaragua, and India, with more to come! My hobbies include art, fashion, sitting on grass, and nerding out over hip-hop and EDM.

Class of 2018: Chris Cali

aimg_3369

Hey y’all!  I have been a member of the Scholars Council since my Freshman year and am so glad I get to serve the Macaulay community this year as VP of Student Life. We are planning some kick-ass events this year; keep your eye on our FB page and website to learn more about them!  A little about me: I am an Actuarial Mathematics major who also has a passion for Photography – which is why I founded the Photography Club here at Macaulay! In addition to taking photos, my hobbies include Netflix, swimming, Tae Kwon Do, constantly eating food (pizza, burritos, pie, you name it), listening to country and heavy metal music, and just hanging out with friends!  If you need to reach out to me for any reason, you can email me at: christopher.cali@macaulay.cuny.edu or find me on Facebook!

Class of 2019: Maisha Kamal

img_2973

What up Macaulay? I’m Maisha Kamal and I’m a current sophomore at Brooklyn College. This is my first year on the council but I’m already having a bomb-ass time as the VP of IT/Communications for our incredible student body. I’m excited to be serving the Macaulay community because I want to make an impact and help voices be heard. A little about me: I’m a raging bibliophile and my biggest passions are rooted in the arts; I’ve been writing for as long as I can remember, love experimenting with photography, and most recently developed an immense appreciation for film. I’m a member of several Macaulay clubs that take up my Fridays and make me eagerly earn the sweet release of death after 8 hour days at Macaulay Central (kidding) (but like look how sleepy I look in that picture!). I’m studying Business Econ (pre-law) and (hopefully) minoring in English and History. I’m a tad crazy, over-enthusiastic, scream too much and cry too often, but I love what I do and I think that makes up for it. Let’s have a great year, yeah?

Class of 2020: Max Neuman

I’m overjoyed to serve the Brooklyn College community and to represent their needs and interests. I am focused on optimizing student government’s efficiency and on reinvesting in the Macaulay community.

Fun fact: I love flags, the study of which is known as vexillology.

Class of 2020: Samah Islam

samah-islam

Thanks for voting me Avatar and allowing me to be the bridge between you guys and the Scholars Council.  It is my utmost honor to be representing the freshman Macaulay class at City, though not as humbling to be sitting here still trying to figure out what to write for these things. As ex-president of the behemoth population of students at Forest Hills High School and club founder there, I can’t wait to utilize the knowledge and experience I’ve gained to make student life EPIC for you guys!  I’m on the pre-dental track (goodness knows if it’s subject to change) and trying to narrow my major down to a singular subject. (No, I will not clean your teeth for free) I’m a part of the fencing team at CCNY, lover of books, food, scaring my family with face masks (clean up dat skin and scare the living day lights out of people) and wasting time reading Youtube comments when I should be studying. I literally can’t even think of all the other things I like. Maybe it’ll come to me in a dream. Bless your beautiful faces. And hearts. And souls. Because they’re beautiful too. I hope.

Hello fellow scholars! My name is Angela and I am a freshman at Hunter College. Although this is my first year serving as a representative for MSC, I will make my best efforts to listen and voice everyone’s suggestions and concerns. I am thrilled to be a part of MSC and help make Macaulay events more exciting!

Currently, I intend on being a Studio Art and Economics major with a minor in Accounting. This may seem like a perplexing combination of very different disciplines; however, I have a strong desire to one day combine business and design to start my own company. With my free time, I love exploring the incredible museums and galleries around New York. Some other interests include eating amazing food, listening to music, and pondering about the meaning of life.

Hello all, my name is Uju Nwaigwe and I am a freshmen at the Macaulay Honors College at John Jay College. Currently I am majoring in Political Science and hoping to minor in Gender Studies next semester. I aspire to become a lawyer fighting on the forefronts for the rights of others. Although, I do not know what area of law I particularly want to specialize in, I hope to gain some insights through numerous internships.  In high school, I made sure to maintain roles in leadership and community service and I plan to do the exact same here at Macaulay and at John Jay. I hope that my actions and creativity can add to what brings John Jay and Macaulay together.   A few fun facts about me include: I am a member of the women’s basketball team at John Jay College, my favorite color is purple, I truly believe that I could perform surgery after watching 12 seasons of Grey’s Anatomy and the entire series of House, I am currently in love with Solange’s new album called A Seat At The Table, and I am very outgoing and I love to network!  P.S. MY BIO PICTURE DOES NOT GIVE ME JUSTICE….let’s not even begin to talk about the lightning!

julia-muallem

Hey guys! I’m Julia Muallem, and I am currently a freshman at Lehman College. Although I am not declared just yet, I’m planning on majoring in psychology and minoring in anthropology or environmental science, while on the pre-med track. I am no stranger to advocacy. Among other things, in high school, I lobbied (the good kind) on Capitol Hill for three years, for issues such as women’s rights in the workplace, subsidizing clean and reusable energy sources, and free access to feminine hygiene products in schools and homeless shelters. (Which has finally been passed in a bill this year!!) I also love working in community service projects and am excited to be serving in the Community Service committee this year.   I cannot wait to work with all you guys to make Macaulay even greater. If you have any questions, concerns, ideas, or suggestions, please do not hesitate to email me at julialeigh.muallem@gmail.com. I mean I am here to serve you guys!

This will be my second year serving on the council, and I am excited to witness all of the awesome advances we make this year as a community! Last year, I had the pleasure of working with the Student Life committee, and I now have the pleasure of working with the IT/Communications committee. My goal for this year is to keep everyone “in the know” about anything and everything going on at Macaulay, and to facilitate meaningful communication between the student body and our student government.

My declared majors, as of now, are Accounting and Finance. Alas, my heart belongs to the theater! I have always had a passion for dancing, singing and acting. College of Staten Island
Class of 2017: Ryan Livote

img_3260

Hello there! My name is Ryan Livote and I am a senior at Macaulay CSI. This is my first year as a member of the Council and I am beyond excited to have the opportunity to serve and represent my graduating class. My goal as a council member is to get CSI Macaulay to participate in as many school events as I can. If I can get more members of the student body excited about Macaulay events, then I can end my term as a content councilman.   I am very passionate about serving people. As a history major, with a minor in business and spanish, my ultimate goal in life is to attain a high level of notability in public service (preferably the presidency *crosses fingers*). But as of today, I am merely a hard-working and dedicated college student hoping to change the world, one person at a time. On a side note, I am also an avid fan of the New York Mets, birdwatching, comics (preferably DC), drawing, multiple genres of music (especially jazz), video games, and occasionally, playing the violin.
