This year we have moved to a new format that allows students more opportunity to explain your work in greater detail. We have set aside almost an entire week for 10-minute presentations by every group: 6:30-8 M-Th, December 7-10 and 9:30-5 Su, December 13. Every group will choose one “slot” during one of these times. Every group will present to other students, faculty, and staff.
ONE student from each group (i.e. the contact person) should register for the entire group. That is, each group, as a whole, registers only once. Since your group should strive to attend together in order to present together, you need to decide on the best date/time and have a couple of alternate dates/times in mind, just in case your preferred date/time is taken. The registration page ( http://macaulay.cuny.edu/eportfolios/seminar3presentations/signup/) will allow your group to choose the date and time for your presentation and will then ask for the following information (clearly laid out):
- name of the contact student, plus her/his email
- names of other students in group
- name of faculty and ITF, format
- title of presentation (whether poster, PSA, or other)
- a paragraph abstract to be published in event program
Posters are printed centrally at Macaulay. The contact person for your group must make an appointment to get your poster printed. Printing must happen at least one full week in advance of your presentation so you have a chance to catch and fix glitches, etc. One student from each group – not your ITF, not your instructor – must bring the file on a flash drive or other media and must be present during the printing process.
THIS FRIDAY’S CLASS HAS BEEN MOVED TO BROOKLYN COLLEGE

New York City. Never sleeping. Always moving. But for some, movement does not come so easily. For some –those with physical disabilities – NYC is only as accessible as its public transportation.
Under Title III of The Americans with Disabilities Act, no individual may be discriminated against on the basis of disability nor denied the right to equal enjoyment of public accommodations, such as mass transit. Since the ratification of the ADA in 1990, the MTA has made substantial progress in increasing accessibility for the physically disabled. However, are these new additions effective? Does the use of modern and new technologies augment or impede accessibility? More importantly, how does the MTA define accessibility? Our team has sought to not only answer these questions, but we conclude our research with a proposal of potential improvements that can make NYC an even more accessible place for the physically disabled.

Here are our group’s two outlines (we’ve been continuously working on both). Any feedback is appreciated!

If you’d like to print your posters at Macaulay, you can make an appointment here:
http://macaulay.cuny.edu/webforms/?q=node/26
Appointments must be made at least 5 days in advance of your desired printing date (so there’s time to get the response and know that it’s OK) and at least one person from each group MUST be present for their printing session. Dates for the Sem 3 Exhibition are December 7-10 (more soon . . . ).
The Macaulay tech staff (Jose, Chris, and Bing) are helpful and friendly, and will give tips and assistance, but you are responsible for making sure the image resolutions are high enough, the poster has been proofread, and so forth. We’ll cover this in class, but let me know if your group has any questions or needs any assistance.
It’s that time again! All MHC sophomores and juniors have to fill out the laptop reinventory form. This can be done quickly (and painlessly) online at:
