last day

i’m leaving tomorrow so i figured i’d post the most important thing i’ve learned from each of my roomates:

from sohail, that it is possible to drink a handle of jack every morning before school and still lead a somewhat normal life.

from danny, that you can wash whites and colors together and the earth will continue to spin.

thank you and goodnight

remember to tip your waitresses

madrid has a new tennis stadium called the magic box. katie and i hit up the madrid open last night, the first tournament there. we saw a spaniard get soundly beat by an argentino.

the cool feature of the stadium is that it has three courts each with its own retractable roof. here’s a picture.

capture and release

in the most american thing we’ve done in months category, i bowled a 142 last wednesday, finally defeating a very tan finish gal. i think this is all just preparation for our eventual release back in to the wild, i mean united states.

Let’s try not to make this awkward (or: we’re still cool, you and I, right?)

Alright, so maybe it’s been 40 days since I’ve written a blog post.  And maybe that post was just an apology for not posting for three weeks.  But, if you think about it, isn’t this really your fault?

Anyway, what have I done since we last digitally convened?  I’ve been to:

  • Santiago de Compostela (the second holiest site in the Catholic world)
  • Sevilla (or Seville; http://bit.ly/BKBOQ)
  • Malaga (where the beaches were cold and drinks paella was free if you got to know the owner)
  • Cordoba (old mosque church ‘mosque’ [church])
  • Bilbao (just the museum)
  • Barcelona (mostly Gaudy)
  • Paris (Paris)

It’s all been very wonderful and extremely blog-worthy but, alas, I’ve let you (singular) down, dear blog reader”s”.  This weekend I’m going to Lisbon.  Yes, I’m jealous of me too.

Less than one month remains.  Bitter sweet.  Bagel sweet.  I’d kill for a bagel.  Really.  So watch out.

With one month left, it’s time to consider how we’ve grown.  Sohail still doesn’t drink, I still don’t clean, and Jon still won’t talk to either of us.  Just as well.

I’ll miss Madrid.  Its parks, its laid-back perma-lateness, its alarming unemployment rate, its clean clean efficient speedy Metro.  But mostly I won’t miss its food.  It’ll be good to be back home, where the summers are too hot, the subway doesn’t work, and free Wifi flows like sand from a sand waterfall.  In the meantime, I hope you enjoy this New York pornography as much as I have:
