Uploading photos to the class blog

There are two ways to upload photos from the web:

Method One: Saving Images to Your Desktop:  You can upload photos from the web by clicking the photo on the website where you found it and dragging it to your desktop.  Next, go to the class blog and create a new post. At the top of the text box, it will say “Upload/Insert” next to a square icon.  Click the square icon.  A new box will open, asking you to choose a file to upload.  Choose the file on your desktop, re-name it, make a caption, and choose the position and size you want it to be in your post.  You can also upload photos you took yourself by choosing the appropriate file from your hard drive.  Then click “insert into post” near the bottom of this box.  This will upload the photo into your post.  Finally, click “Publish”.

Method Two: Using Grab: When you find an image or bit of text on a website or PDF that you want to include in a blog post, open up Grab, which is an application on your computer.  Click on “Capture” and then “Selection” and select the image or section you want to share.  This will basically take a screen shot of whatever you select.  Copy this selection by going to “Edit” and “Copy”.  Log in to the class blog and create a new post.  Put your cursor in the post and do “Control  V” to paste the image.  Click on the image in order to resize or change its position in your post.  Click on the photo icon to open up a dialogue box where you can create captions, resize, etc.  Click “Update” and then publish your post.

Be sure to credit the source of any photographs you find on the web.  It is plagiarism to pass off photos someone else took as your own.
