William E. Macaulay Honors College at CUNY Students to be Interviewed Live on ABC Primary Coverage Super Tuesday

University Dean Ann Kirschner announced today that four students from Macaulay Honors College at The City University of New York – Ethan Frisch '08 (City College), Manu H. Kumasi '09 (Baruch College), Katherine Mateo '11 (Lehman College), and Jonathan Rossi '11 (College of Staten Island) – will be interviewed live from Macaulay Honors College for ABC News NOW's election coverage on Super Tuesday February 5, 2008, at 9PM.

The students will appear live on air and be interviewed by ABC News hosts for ABC's digital network, "ABC News NOW," which is available to 35 million homes via broadband, cable and mobile platforms. The segment will also be streamed live on www.abcnews.com.

"Having our students turn their powers of analysis from the classroom to the real world is what Macaulay is all about," Kirschner said. "We want them to engage in critical issues affecting New York and the world, to think and work as global leaders."

The students--one Democrat, one Republican, and two Independents--were selected for their political engagement and as representatives of young people across the city and state. "We are very excited to share the voices of politically engaged young people across our news platforms," explained ABC News Now executive producer Jessica Guff.

Founded in 2001, Macaulay Honors College is a flagship program for 1,300 high-achieving students at The City University of New York. A cornerstone of CUNY's renaissance, Macaulay works in partnership with seven of CUNY's senior colleges (Baruch, Brooklyn, City, Hunter, Lehman, Queens and Staten Island). Through an innovative public-private partnership, the state funds the students' tuition and private philanthropy supports primary research, global study, internships, community service and leadership opportunities, anchored in the diversity of New York cultural and intellectual resources. Students from Macaulay's three graduating classes have won the Truman, Beinecke, Salk and Fulbright, as well as other national and international fellowships and professional opportunities.
