Though they take classes on seven campuses, University Scholars have many opportunities to come together as a whole through a series of common events. Such events include trips to museums and to the theatre, gatherings at which students present their seminar projects publicly, and social events such as picnics and boat rides.
One goal of the shared activities is to foster friendships among students from different campuses and diverse backgrounds. Another purpose is to create a Macaulay identity for University Scholars: a sense that they are part of a community of high-achieving students and an awareness of the resources available to them as members of Macaulay Honors College.
Macaulay Honors College also hosts theater workshops, technology fairs, and outdoor action games that allow students to work together in small groups toward a common goal. The University Scholars Council provides additional opportunities for interaction in student-initiated activities and projects. Through the Macaulay website and through discussion boards organized by the Macaulay Instructional Technology Fellows, University Scholars are able to form virtual communities across the campuses.
Finally, our new home on West 67th Street provides a space for students to gather, study, socialize, attend cultural events, work on assignments, read, and build relationships with their fellow University Scholars from the different campuses, as well as with faculty and staff.
