Survey of Literature I

Offered in the fall as part of the Hertog Scholars Program, this course will expose students to a broad sample of the great works of the literary canon from the ancient world through the renaissance. The course will be devoted to a close textual analysis within both a historical context and the development of new literary forms.

Students in the Hertog Scholars Program take six required multidisciplinary seminars focused on close readings and discussion of enduring texts that ask vital contemporary questions. The program is open to incoming first and second year Macaulay students.
