Walt WhitmanJoin us as we celebrate the two hundredth anniversary of this influential Brooklynite with Macaulay professor and noted historian Ted Widmer.

Widmer curated the current exhibition Walt Whitman: Bard of Democracy, on view at the Morgan Library and Museum in Manhattan. He also incorporated the exhibition into a unique, interdisciplinary learning experience for Macaulay students. Professor Widmer will share some of the joys, highlights, and challenges of creating a captivating experience for students and museum goers, and draw some surprising parallels between Whitman’s world and our own.

IS WHITMAN RELEVANT TODAY?

Sophomore Carina D’Urso thinks so and has curated an exhibition of her own in the Macaulay reading room. Come early to check out recent student work inspired by Walt Whitman’s writing, including art, texts and poems.
