Join us for a Career Chat with Caitlin Balagula, Legislative Assistant/Staff Assistant for the U.S. House Committee on Agriculture, to learn more about their career trajectory and professional experience!

 

Caitlin will discuss her career trajectory, professional experience and share information on:

  • Pursuing government and public policy positions at the city, state and federal level
  • Switching career paths while in school
  • Career paths in politics (i.e., campaigns), community organizing, lobbying, etc
  • Moving out of state after graduation
  • Food, nutrition, and agriculture as well as their overlap with public health, sustainability, animal welfare, racial equity, etc.
  • The importance of networking

 

More About our Guest Speaker:

Caitlin Balagula graduated from Macaulay at Hunter College in May 2021. While at Hunter, she held policy positions for Eric Adams when he was Brooklyn Borough President and for New York State Senator Alessandra Biaggi. After graduation, she moved to Washington, DC, where she works full-time on food, agriculture, and nutrition policy for the U.S. House Committee on Agriculture. Prior to pursuing policy, Caitlin held roles in psychological research and at a mental health startup.
