We're sorry, but all tickets sales have ended because the event is expired.

Directed by Oscar-nominated and Emmy-winning filmmaker Julie Cohen, Every Body is a recent documentary film that traces the lives of three individuals who were born with intersex traits and endured nonconsensual childhood surgeries and other invasive medical interventions. The film unpacks what many now consider to be the harmful standard of care in the past — a past characterized by shame, secrecy, and medical trauma — and advocates instead for a world in which intersex people can make their own medical decisions about their bodies when they are older. Passionate and persuasive, these three activists triumph in their quest to be themselves, and their message is exhilarating.

Julie Cohen, Director of Every Body, will introduce the film, and Dr. Elizabeth Reis, author of Bodies in Doubt: An American History of Intersex, will lead the discussion afterward. This event will be open to the CUNY community. Doors will open at 5:15pm and the event will begin promptly at 5:30pm

This event is made possible due to generous funding from the New York City Council Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex, and Asexual Caucus and the Office of the Mayor, and supported by The LaGuardia and Wagner Archives.
