Dr. Peterkin joins Macaulay from Morgan State University’s James H. Gilliam, Jr. College of Liberal Arts, where he was Assistant Dean for Student Success and previously Director of the Clara I. Adams Honors College. He has also held the positions of Director of the Center to Serve Historically Black Colleges and Universities at the Southern Education Foundation, Director of Studies at Butler College at Princeton University, and Dean of Honors at Dillard University.
Dr. Peterkin co-founded the Greater Baltimore Collegiate Honors Council, an initiative to promote collaboration between honors programs and colleges in the Baltimore higher education community, and has served as Vice President of the Maryland Collegiate Honors Council, President of the Northeast Regional Honors Council, and President of the National Association of African American Honors Programs. His roles include Immediate Past President of the Northeast Regional Honors Council, Past President of the National Association of African American Honors Programs, and Vice President of the National Collegiate Honors Council.
Dr. Peterkin holds a PhD and an MA in History from Princeton University, a BA in American Studies from Yale University, and is currently pursuing an MFA in Creative Writing and Publishing Arts at the University of Baltimore.
