James Clarke, Macaulay Honors Advisor at The City College of New York, received his doctoral degree in Philosophy from Stony Brook University (SUNY). A long time Honors director and advisor, he brings to The Macaulay Honors College over a decade of experience advising and mentoring Honors students in all facets of personal, academic, and professional growth, including application to major scholarships and enrichment opportunities. He takes great pleasure in helping students to connect their academic and classroom learning to experiences and resources beyond the university. He loves travel and learning how to navigate unfamiliar places through literature, history, food, and the study of cultural institutions.  At his previous job, James designed and facilitated more than ten short-term Honors travel seminars to Western Europe, including Rome, Paris, Florence, Venice, Seville, Lisbon, Madrid, and Barcelona. He has also served as a club advisor for Honors students, assisting them with organizing social and cultural events, and as a campus advisor for a number of national honor societies, helping students prepare their research for presentation at national undergraduate conferences.
