LaMar Holmes is a Mental Health Counseling Intern in MHC’s Mental Health and Wellness Center who is currently pursuing a degree in Counseling Psychology. LaMar has a wealth of experience working with teenagers, young adults, and in education as he has worked as a high school science and math teacher before seeking a career as a Mental Health Counselor. Remembering the challenges that he faced during his own time as an undergraduate student, LaMar aims to adhere to a treatment philosophy that is based on fostering a safe environment in which to meet students where they are using relational, interpersonal, and humanistic approaches. His clinical interests are identity development issues in teenage and young adulthood, mood and anxiety disorders, navigating and healing from trauma, and in providing culturally informed, community based interventions. In his free time, LaMar enjoys watching Japanese anime and professional sports.
