Jackson Heights isn’t one of the normal neighborhoods of New York City. Usually one area is designated for one ethnicity, but Jackson Heights breaks all of the rules. Even though one can see the division between stores and restaurants in the area, the people are not as separated. You can find Latin Americans eating Thai food, or working in a pharmacy located right outside of the train station. Hence, one of the most important words used to described Jackson Heights is multicultural. One of it’s main appeal is how close Jackson Heights is to the city, but residents living there wouldn’t have to pay the heavy prices as they would living in Manhattan.
