Although Astoria has much to offer in terms of food and entertainment, other aspects of the neighborhood serve as landmarks for the residents. In addition to restaurants and comedy clubs providing a distinct atmosphere in Astoria, the various parks, bridges and other historical remnants bring a higher sense of identity within the people who live there. “Whenever I see the name Steinway, or the Hell Gate Bridge overlooking the park, a part of me resonates. This is my home,” a middle-aged man shared while looking out to the ocean from the guard rail overlooking the East River in Astoria Park.
