For Wednesday October 17

Project Proposal

Each group (choose one person per group to submit) should submit a new post with the category “HI Proposal” with the following information presented in essay form:

  1. Define the healthcare problem that you want to address (within the scope of your interest select a niche that is original).
  2. Provide critical analysis of background information that relates to the proposed idea (determine what is already known, provide literature sources).
  3. What is your solution to the problem that you have chosen?
  4. Assess your idea’s potential for success, both functional and commercial.

As with other assignments in this project, be sure to work on this collaboratively.

For Wednesday, October 10:

Among your group, decide on which project idea you would like to pursue as your final Healthcare Innovation project.

Each person in a group should then create an annotated bibliography of at least 3 articles per person to support the need and originality of your innovation. These should be different articles (i.e. you should have minimum 9 articles total in a group of three). Two articles must be from peer-reviewed journals. The third should be from a reputable popular source, such as a newspaper or magazine (online is fine if you feel that the work is of a high quality, from a relatively impartial source, and well researched).

Your annotation for each entry should at the very least:

  • Identify the author and their position (researcher, professor, staff science writer, etc.) or experience
  • Summarize briefly the article’s main points and findings
  • Indicate how you plan to use this source in your project

See here for a sample annotated bibliography (from a very different topic).

To submit:

  1. Create a new post with the category Healthcare Innovation
  2. Indicate your project name and your two groupmates at the top of the post
  3. List your three sources using correct Chicago style citations (remember the year comes directly after the author and directly before the title), and then below each citation provide your annotation paragraph.
