Since its opening in 1983, Jackson Diner has been serving a variety of Indian food right in the heart of Little India on 74^th street in Jackson Heights. They boast an exceptional lunch buffet that expresses the vast culinary cuisine of India. On our visit to the store we met one of the stores managers and he told us about the restaurant’s origins and what it means to him. Surprisingly, Jackson Diner was orginally not an Indian restaurant. It used to be located on the corner of 74^th street and was primarily a Greek restaurant. After a few months this restaurant added some Indian food. Eventually the Indian food became a lot more popular in the area, the new restaurant was bought, and the Indian restaurant we know now opened in 1983.

Samosas

Samosas are fried turnovers filled with potatoes, spices, and peas and are served as appetizers.

Seekh Kabab

Seekh Kabab is a meat skewer of ground beef, chicken, or lamb and is seasoned with a blend of spices.

Masala Dosa

Masala Dosa is a South Indian dish consisting of a very thin crepe filled with a mixture of potatoes, peas and nuts. It usually comes with a few chutneys to be used as dipping sauce.

Murg Korma

Murg Korma is a pot of chicken pieces cooked in a blend of curry and spices.

Naan

Naan is bread that is used to eat along with all of the main entrée dishes. It is a rolled flour dough bread and cooked in a cylindrical tandoori oven.
