Because of the numerous restorations and transformations that Carl Schurz Park has undergone, the parks landscape and geographic features are mostly artificial. The park has been disconnected from the shoreline and a many of the plants and trees are not native to the area. The park is constantly manicured and maintained volunteers and a full time staff of gardeners.
