Weinstein Hall at NYU
Rick Rubin and Russell Simmons started Def Jam Records in 1984 in this NYU dorm. The record company has published albums from critically and financially acclaimed Hip-hop artists like Jay-Z, LL Cool J, and The Beastie Boys.

Birthplace of Hip-Hop
House to DJ Kool Herc, credited to be the first to discover that a song's drum break can be isolated and put in a loop to make dance music, this is where the first Hip-hop block party took place in which the genre was born.

The Joint of Biggie

Not yet famous, young Biggie used to engage in Hip-Hop battle in this street in front of a bodega (shop). Though the shop has ceased its existence, footage of young Biggie's freestyle performance in front of it still exist. The following is one:

Nas' Birthplace
Nas, said to be one of the best rappers of all time, was born in Crown Heights of New York City. He is especially remembered for reigniting East-coast Hip-hop. His 1994 album, "Illmatic", is considered by some to be the "Bible of Hip-hop."
