NYCHA is facing a rough patch, especially under the Trump Administration. With up to $35 million of funds in jeopardy, and no dissent from HUD secretary Ben Carson, the affordable housing crisis looks like it will soon take yet another turn for the worse. The current NYCHA Chief Executive Officer,Shola Olatoye, expressed her concern by stating,

“The direction we’re moving in is one where public housing is drastically different or doesn’t exist.”

Public housing provides homes for an estimated almost 500,000 people in New York City alone, and many others in and around urban centers across the United States. Click on the links in the right sidebar to navigate political and social components of the New York City Housing Authority.
