Final Paper directions

ART Final Project and Paper

Spring 2016

Macaulay Honors College

Your digital project should announce the opening of a new reproductive health clinic that will offer whatever ART services you deem appropriate. Whatever kind of medical clinic you propose, you should create a digital brochure that conveys your philosophy on the services you are providing.

We will take a look at your online projects in class and you will get a chance to explain (perhaps in small groups) what’s going on in your clinic. These digital brochures do NOT need to be artistic masterpieces. The main point is just to convey the appropriate content.

Your final papers should integrate the themes of the course by exploring the ethics of assisted reproductive technologies in further depth. If given a chance, how would you set up a model clinic? What services would you offer and why? What would your rules and regulations be? How would you try to resolve some of the ethical dilemmas we have discussed and read about this term? Issues you should consider include:

Price disparity in egg donation

Anonymity in sperm and egg donation

Prenatal testing for disabilities

Sex selection

“Designer” babies

Post-menopausal pregnancy

Availability of services: who gets to have ART?

International ART

Disposition of extra frozen embryos

These papers should be approximately 10 double-spaced pages in length. Though you may use your weekly papers, I don’t want you to simply cut and paste from those papers. Your final paper should have an integrated thesis with a coherent philosophy. And of course, please pay close attention to spelling, grammar, etc.

Papers and projects are due the last day of class: May 18
