The 62 counties of New York State exhibit tremendous disparities in terms of their economic circumstances. Wealthier counties have greater means to own and maintain more gardens, parks, and fields than poorer counties. Such habitats attract birds during their migratory and nesting periods. Consequently, one may logically assume that the greatest number of bird observations have occurred in the highest income counties.
