Urban green spaces are areas often utilized by the public for their atmosphere and abundance of space. Central Park is New York’s largest green space and is utilized by both residents and tourists. The park is segmented into zones of varying infrastructures. The goals of our research study are to investigate if infrastructure influences park activity, and if so, explain how. We observed five different zones within Central Park during three different times (weekday morning, weekday evening, weekend) and noted the activities that people partook in at the respective zones. Interviews were conducted in each zone with the selection of individuals being random We found that there is a correlation between infrastructure and the type of park use. A greater sample size should be included for further validation. Hopefully, the data can be used for city planning, creating park zones that will conform to suit the city’s needs.
