How To Embed Your Video from YouTube into a Blog Post (Updated)

1. Click on Add New Post

2. Click HTML tab to enter HTML mode for embedding

3. Go to your video on YouTube. To the right of the video you’ll see the embed code. If the “object width” is more than 480, click the small gear-shaped icon next to the embed code, and change the thumbnail size to 480 (or 425, if your video is not wide-screen).

4. Copy the embed code to the right of the video  (not the link info – the embed info is long but just click and drag to paste)

5. Paste embed code into post

And you’re done!

How to Upload Videos to Class YouTube Group (Updated)

1. Go to http://www.youtube.com/group/NYCArtAdapts. Bookmark the site so you can return frequently.

2. Click on yellow ‘join group’ button and follow the prompts to become a member. If you don’t already have a Google or YouTube account, you will have to set one up before you can proceed.

3. Click on yellow ‘upload’ button and follow the prompts to upload your video from your hard drive to our class YouTube group. Copy the URL of your video.

4. Return to our YouTube Group address (http://www.youtube.com/group/NYCArtAdapts)

5. Click the light blue “submit a video” button. Paste in the URL of your video and click ‘Post’. Your video should be added to the group page.

Uploading Podcasts

Here is a reminder for uploading Podcasts:

1. Go to your dashboard/backend

2. Add New post

3. Title post

4. Click Add Media icon below title box

5. Select your file

6. Copy the file’s URL

7. Close out media box and return to post

8. Click Add Media button below post box

9. Paste your file’s URL in the Location box

10. Assign Type to m4a

11. Paste [display_podcast] back up in post box

12. Preview and publish!!

Assigning Posts to Categories

When you create a post, be sure to assign it to the correct category so that it shows up in the category link sidebar for readers to find. After you’ve previewed your post and are ready to publish, find the “categories” box to the right of the post box and check the right one. //

Identify Your Posts

Whenever there is a class assignment to be posted to the blog, make sure to either give your assignment a unique title or include your name in the post heading so it is easily identifiable to readers. For example, “My First Post” or “My First Podcast” could be anyone’s. Even though your name does show up under the title, it is good practice to use unique identifiers to make things easier for your audience. //

Save Space – Delete Drafts!!

When you are finished uploading any media – podcasts, images, etc – please delete your drafts to free up space for future projects. You can do this by going into your Media Library and deleting anything you do not want to use. It’s good practive to “clean up” after yourself everytime you post something – but you can also check your Media Library whenever you think of it. Like right now! //
