Macaulay students are recognized for their contributions in a wide variety of fields.

Joshua Kemp ’17 (City) was named Schwarzman Scholar and will pursue a master’s degree in global affairs at one of the top universities in China. READ

Senior Karolina Mackiewicz (Brooklyn) has received a Boren Fellowship.

Ariane Marchese ’20 (Hunter), a physics major, has won a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship Program award. Her research focuses on threats posed to the earth’s atmosphere by the accelerating growth of greenhouse gases.

Samantha Lish ’20 (Hunter) received National Institute of Health – Oxford-Cambridge Scholars Program (OxCam) award, which  covers full tuition and fees, provides stipend, medical benefits, and a travel allowance for all four years of the program.

Swathi Mettela ’19 (City),  Miar Elaskandrany (Brooklyn), and Tiffany Merlinsky, (Hunter) have all won Jonas Salk Scholarships.

Isabella Joseph has been named City College Salutatorian for that campus’s Class of 2020. READ

Piotr Marciniec ’19 (College of Staten Island)  has received the Wisconsin Quantum Institute Scholarship from the University of Wisconsin – Madison. He’ll begin his PhD in Quantum Computing there this fall.

Ana Maria Oliynyk ’23

Ana Maria Oliynyk ’23 (City), Julie Margolin ’23 (Baruch), Yvonne Scorcia ’22 (Queens), Hannah Tetreault ’23 (John Jay), Camille Wilson ’23 (Hunter), and Rene Yaroshevsky ’23 (Queens) are all 2020 Jeannette K. Watson Fellowship recipients.

Fulbright Scholars: Senior Jadyn Marshall ’20 (Hunter) has earned a Fulbright grant to teach in Greece. Junior Tasmim Hoque (Lehman) has been accepted to the Fulbright Canada research program to  study the neurobiological mechanisms underlying addiction and mental illness. Michelle Rangel ’19 (Hunter) graduated with a BA/BS degree in psychology and a minor in biological sciences and behavioral neuroscience, will teach English in India on a Fulbright Scholarship, while Rebecca Zhang ’20 (Hunter) graduating this spring with a BA in behavioral neurobiology, will travel to Germany to pursue neuroscience research. Jacqueline Kim ’20 (Queens), a communication sciences and disorders major, will serve as a Fulbright English teaching assistant in South Korea.

Juniors Benjamin Reichman (City) and Nibras Ahmed (Hunter) have won Barry Goldwater Scholarships. Benjamin plans to work in Artificial Intelligence research; while Nibras hopes to highlight the underpinnings of cancer and translate them to clinical settings.

Olivia Asher, ’21 (Lehman), is a Con Edison STEM Scholar,  recognized for her extensive research in mycology and lichenology.  

Saifeldeen Zihiri ’19 and Jennifer Dikler ’20 (both Hunter) are Luce scholars.

Marie Traore ’21

Marie Traore ’21, Makinoon Sami ’21 and Yina Torres ’21 (all Baruch), have won Gilman International Scholarships, sponsored by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.

VALEDICTORIANS AND SALUTATORIANS

Baruch College named Annmarie Gajdos and Katherine Dorovitsine as the Valedictorian and Salutatorian, respectively, for the Class of 2020. Both students are studying in the Zicklin School of Business, as Gajdos will receive a BBA in Computer Information Systems, and Dorovitsine will earn her BBA in Finance.

Brooklyn College has named Roby Daniel as Valedictorian and Zainab Nathani, as Salutatorian for its Class of 2020. MEET THEM
