Cheryl Wills, NY1 Anchor

Alumni of Macaulay Honors College  present a panel discussion on how students can land a job in communications. The event takes place on February 8, 2017 at 6pm at Macaulay. Students will receive advice from members currently working in the media about what to expect as they begin their job hunt, as well as tips on resume writing, and the key to getting your foot in the door. The guest speaker for the evening is NY1 anchor and author Cheryl Wills.

Wills is an award winning reporter at NY1 News and a longtime local news anchor.  She started at NY1 in 1992, even before the station went on the air. Wills is also a published author, having written Die Free: A Heroic Family History, as well as a children’s book. Other panelists for the evening are:

  • Lorna Graham is currently a writer for Dateline NBC. Graham also worked at ABC’s Good Morning America.  She has written several documentaries, including Auchwitz, a short documentary, which was produced by Steven Spielberg. Graham is also a published author.
  • Beryl Holness is an award-winning television producer with extensive experience in news and talk formats.Holness is currently a producer for MSNBC’s The Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell. She also worked for several years at Good Morning America, and began her career at WPIX in New York.

Macaulay alumni and Emmy Award-winning broadcaster Amanda Perez ’05 (Brooklyn College) is the moderator for the event.  Perez is a producer for CBS Network News Service and has extensive experience both in front of as well as behind the camera.  Perez also recently started her own production company called Straight A Media.
