What the day will be like

What to wear during the event:
This is a rain or shine event. You will be spending all day outside. Dress appropriately for the weather (bring sunblock) and for a physically active day. It’s best to wear comfortable, loose fitting clothing that may get dirty and sneakers or athletic shoes. No sandals please! Bring lots of energy, a sense of adventure.

It is very important for our staff to know about any medical issues that might affect your participation in any way. Please include any medical concerns or allergies. All correspondence will be kept strictly confidential.

For more information email or call (718) 706-9900 and Ask for Jeff Grinnell, Course Director, Adventure and Team Building Programs.

Day 3: IDEA Sessions

Tuesday, August 22
Macaulay Honors College

The final part of Macaulay orientation is a 2 1/2 hour ideas session where we show you how Macaulay supports student innovation.

As a prelude to the semester’s coursework we’ll gather in Macaulay classrooms for some conversations about art. Yes, art. Iconic works of art offer a wonderful opportunity for critical thinking. These casual explorations of ideas are a unique and eye-opening Macaulay tradition–and fun way to meet your new classmates.

We’ll introduce you to our Instructional Technology Fellows, experts in the academic environment who’ll work with you throughout your time at Macaulay. An ITF coaches student ideas and visions into high quality academic output through tech tools like multimedia production, and more.

You will also receive communication tools including a Macaulay eportfolio account and a Macaulay email address and (woo!) your brand new MacBook Air.
