The student speaker at Macaulay’s commencement ceremony is an honored role and an opportunity to represent your class. If you’re interested in auditioning, you must be nominated by a Macaulay director, advisor, faculty member, or fellow Macaulay classmate. Students may seek nomination by contacting one of these representatives with your intent to audition.
To audition, students should:
1) Secure your nomination.
2) Contact Cam Stewart at firstname.lastname@example.org to schedule a virtual audition on either April 6th (3pm-5pm) or April 7th (10am-12pm) In your email, please include: full name, campus and who is supporting your nomination.
3) Write a draft of your speech. The draft—one minute in length—should in some way reflect your college experience. In the past, winning speeches have blended the personal and the public with confident prose and engaging scenes.
A Zoom link will be sent to all applicants in the weeks before auditions.
