To order your cap and gown, go to the Herff Jones website. If you did not order your cap and gown by April 23, you can email commencement@macaulay.cuny.edu.  Macaulay will provide your honors stole.

If you will be wearing black academic regalia for your home campus, department, or other ceremonies, you may also wear it at Macaulay’s commencement. You may also purchase your black regalia from other vendors, as long as it is black. Students are not permitted to wear any other color regalia during Macaulay’s ceremony. Students who do not wear black regalia will not be allowed to walk in the ceremony.

If you need financial assistance with your regalia please contact  commencement@macaulay.cuny.edu.

To ensure an equal chance of getting seats, all graduates must register to get tickets by May 1. Graduating students who have registered for commencement may request up to 5 tickets for guests. Tickets for Macaulay Honors College Commencement at United Palace will have assigned seats. Macaulay will assign guest seats after May 1 for students who registered.  Seats will not be exchanged and are final. You will be sent a link to download your tickets with your assigned seats after May 3. You must register at the registration link.  Please only request the number of tickets needed. If you do not register by May 1, you will only get tickets after everyone who did register and requested extra tickets before the deadline. Only one entry per student. Macaulay will delete any duplicates. You can confirm your registration at commencement@macaulay.cuny.edu.

You may request up to 10 extra tickets through the Extra Commencement Tickets Request Form.  These tickets are not guaranteed and may not be seated with your original request.  We will do our best to seat your party together. Extra tickets will be assigned after May 6.

Friends and family members must get tickets through their student; the college does not make tickets available to the public. Guests cannot attend commencement without a ticket with an assigned seat (including children). Graduates do not need a ticket.

FAQs

Is Commencement still happening?
Yes! There are no plans to cancel or postpone our celebration of the Class of 2024. We look forward to seeing you and your guests on May 23. If we must change any of our plans, graduates, campus Advisors and Directors will be among the first to hear updates.

What time do we have to be there?
Graduates must arrive between 1:00 and 2:00PM. The house will open to invited guests at 2:15PM.

What can I bring?
Very little. You can bring a refillable water bottle. There is no place to store personal belongings. The venue prohibits flags, banners, signs, balloons, and other items they deem a hazard. READ United Palace’s list of prohibited items.

What must I bring?
Every guest must have a ticket. Graduates are not required to have a ticket, but must bring their all-black gown and cap. Staff will assist with proper placement of regalia. They will not have spare items.

Will the venue sell food or drinks?
No.

Is the theater accessible?
Guests with mobility needs may use the VIP entrance at the security check-in on Broadway. Once inside the foyer, United Palace staff will help people to their seats. READ MORE

What will security be like?
Security measures at United Palace are led by their experienced, on-staff security team, and are calibrated based on the number of guests. Those security measures may include the presence of NYPD officers outside, per venue policy. All graduates and guests will pass through a metal detector at the entrance, and their bags will be scanned. You may be asked to remove your gown; carry it for a quicker entry. Once inside, CUNY Public Safety officers and venue security will be present. If you have questions or concerns about safety, you may contact Macaulay’s public safety team at (212) 729-2901 or Public.Safety@mhc.cuny.edu.

What if something unexpected happens?
Macaulay, along with United Palace, will do everything we can to ensure that each student (and their invited guests) can celebrate without delay or distraction. CUNY’s Code of Conduct (Henderson Rules) outlines what we expect of our graduates to help us achieve that goal for all. United Palace’s Code of Conduct is available HERE.

Anything else?
Macaulay Advisors, Directors, faculty and staff are proud to collaborate to produce a heartwarming event that celebrates this amazing graduating class!
