Enhanced Opportunities Funds

All eligible students will be considered for the general Opportunities Fund grant of $1,500.  Enhanced Opportunities Fund grants ($2,500 - $5,000) will be awarded competitively to students who meet special requirements. Lloyd Blankfein Opportunities Fund

Funded by the Estate of Joseph M. Schor, the Schor Scholars Opportunities Fund will provide a fixed travel grant for students from Macaulay Honors College at City College or Queens College. Recipients are expected to write a reflection paper based on their learning experience.

20th Anniversary Media Internships

For students interested in gaining hands-on experience in media, video production, or journalism. This internship, supervised by New Media Lab Director Robert Small, will focus on producing videos to help celebrate the 20th anniversary of Macaulay Honors College.

You must submit a one-page cover letter and resume to be considered for this opportunity. 


Liu Shiming Scholars Fund – Godwin-Ternbach Museum at Queens College

The first endowed Opportunities Fund recently established by the Liu Shiming Art Foundation in memory of the celebrated Chinese sculptor Liu Shiming, this fund will provide a Macaulay student with a $3,000 grant for an in-person and virtual internship at the Godwin-Ternbach Museum at Queens College.

This internship, supervised by Museum co-directors Maria Pio and Louise Weinberg, will include conducting research, giving a presentation, and assisting with the preparation for, and installation of, an exhibition featuring Liu Shiming’s work in summer 2022.  The internship timeframe is June 1-July 22, 2022.  This will be a remarkable opportunity for students interested in Chinese art and culture as well as museum education, collections, and exhibitions.

Applicants must submit a one-page cover letter and resume to be considered for this opportunity.

The Godwin-Ternbach Museum (GTM) is the only fine arts museum in the CUNY system. Founded in 1981, the museum organizes exhibitions and programs of contemporary and historical significance for the diverse audiences of Queens and the metropolitan region—students, faculty and public alike. It houses nearly 7,000 works that date from ancient to modern times, which represent cultures from around the world. Lectures, symposia, gallery talks, workshops, and tours, print and online catalogues illuminate the art on view.


Goldsmith Fellows

The Goldsmith Scholars Program identifies and supports Macaulay students for whom graduate education is an essential component of their aspirations. These high-achieving students are then guided through the application process, with special emphasis on applying for national scholarships and fellowships to pursue graduate studies. LEARN MORE

The program offers unique experiences and opportunities with the aim of fostering each student’s individual gifts—as well as encouraging cooperative endeavors—and preparing them to make substantial contributions in their chosen fields after graduation. The Mellon Humanities Opportunities Fund provides enhanced Opportunities Fund grants of $4,000 for support study abroad, an unpaid internship, or research in the humanities. Priority given to Bridge Scholars and other students from the Bronx, but all Macaulay students seeking support for a humanities-related experience are eligible to apply.


Schor Scholars Opportunities Fund

The R stands for “reality” and the work is exclusively in augmented and virtual reality projects.

The Goldsmith Scholars Program identifies and supports Macaulay students for whom graduate education is an essential component of their aspirations. William R. Kenan Scholars Program

The William R. Kenan Scholars Program was founded to enhance honors education at CUNY by sponsoring a group of outstanding Macaulay students who have demonstrated an early commitment to service and civic engagement. The program offers unique experiences and opportunities with the aim of fostering each student’s individual gifts—as well as encouraging cooperative endeavors—and preparing them to make substantial contributions in their chosen fields after graduation. Stavros Niarchos Foundation Scholars – Greece Opportunities Fund

Funded by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation, the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Scholars Opportunities Fund will provide three students with financial need, the opportunity to study abroad in Greece. Mellon Humanities – Bridge Scholars Opportunities Fund

The Mellon Humanities Opportunities Fund will provide five Macaulay Bridge Scholars with guaranteed access (with a successful application) to an enhanced Opportunities Fund grant of $4,000, to support study abroad, an unpaid internship, or research in the humanities.


Meyer Scholars Opportunities Fund

Funded by Miraldina and Anthony Meyer, the Meyer Scholars Opportunities Fund will provide a fixed travel stipend for study abroad. Meyer Scholars will also be expected to attend a group dinner with the donors (date to be determined).

Morin Engineering Opportunities Fund

May and Samuel Rudin Family Foundation Opportunities Fund

A statement of justification must include how the study of Creative Writing or Spanish has contributed to the student’s development.
