Since I've never taken the train to Columbus Circle by myself, I didn't know where to go after I got off the train. I walked in all four directions before asking someone and realizing that the museum was just across the street from the circle! As I walked in to the museum, the counterperson gave me a hard time by saying that the Macaulay passport would not be free admission. I argued for a good 5 minutes before she finally called someone and realized she was wrong.

http://macaulay.cuny.edu/seminars/bergman09/content/independent-visit-3-museum-arts-and-design-paper-exhibit#comments baruch Sun, 06 Dec 2009 23:08:27 +0000 itzkevinn 450 at http://macaulay.cuny.edu/seminars/bergman09 House of the Dead Opera http://macaulay.cuny.edu/seminars/bergman09/content/house-dead-opera-1
Let me start off by saying Lincoln Center is absolutely just gorgeous. Even though it was raining, the sight of the center was just amazing. It was like nothing i've ever seen before. The seats that were provided to us by Macaulay were also absolutely amazing to enhance our visit to the Opera. It was my first ever Opera and it was one to remember. I was told by a few of my classmates that the very own Meryl Streep was present in the Opera sitting in the 4th row. I didn't get to see her for myself though. The atmosphere in the Opera was just absolutely incredible.

http://macaulay.cuny.edu/seminars/bergman09/content/house-dead-opera-1#comments baruch Sun, 06 Dec 2009 02:55:47 +0000 itzkevinn 440 at http://macaulay.cuny.edu/seminars/bergman09 Independent Event #2: New York Historical Society http://macaulay.cuny.edu/seminars/bergman09/content/independent-event-2-new-york-historical-society
Last week, I visited the New York Historical Society with a couple of friends. At the museum, I visited the Lincoln exhibit and the John Brown exhibit. I had never used my cultural passport to get into any museum free, this was my first time. It was quite amazing to have VIP like passes within my possession. Throughout my life, history was never a part of my interests, but I was clearly fascinated with some of the valuables that they had within the exhibits.

http://macaulay.cuny.edu/seminars/bergman09/content/independent-event-2-new-york-historical-society#comments baruch Mon, 30 Nov 2009 02:25:22 +0000 itzkevinn 425 at http://macaulay.cuny.edu/seminars/bergman09 Independent Event #1: Precious http://macaulay.cuny.edu/seminars/bergman09/content/independent-event-1-precious
Last week, I went to go see the film Precious. Before last week, I had no idea what the movie was nor did I know what it was about. However, Stephanie brought the idea up to go watch it along with Natasha. The three of us walked to the theater to watch Precious which was featured in Sundance, Toronto and Cannes Film Festivals. It won many awards and was based on a novel titled Push.

http://macaulay.cuny.edu/seminars/bergman09/content/independent-event-1-precious#comments baruch nyc Sun, 29 Nov 2009 22:01:57 +0000 itzkevinn 412 at http://macaulay.cuny.edu/seminars/bergman09 Madison Square Park http://macaulay.cuny.edu/seminars/bergman09/content/madison-square-park-0
Before last Tuesday when I visited the Madison Square Park, I had no idea what the park contained other than shake shack. I've walked through the park only once in my whole life before Tuesday, but I never really took the time to stop and look at the statues and sculptures and other forms of art within the park. As I walked through the park, I realized the beauty of nature that surrounded the park. There were tons of trees in all different colors along with tons of grass. There was a circle of water which I was confused about because I didn't know what it was there for, it was just there.

http://macaulay.cuny.edu/seminars/bergman09/content/madison-square-park-0#comments baruch Sat, 21 Nov 2009 03:25:26 +0000 itzkevinn 384 at http://macaulay.cuny.edu/seminars/bergman09 MOMA Visit http://macaulay.cuny.edu/seminars/bergman09/content/moma-visit
I think yesterday was the first time i've ever been to the MOMA. I remember when I was younger, I visited it like once, but maybe I was mistaken because I don't remember it at all! I walked into the museum and it was a whole new environment to me. It was quite a fascinating scene because I have never seen that many pieces of art in one area. The Les Demoiselles D’Avignon was a lot bigger than I anticipated. I searched up the photo online, but it's nothing compared to the one in real life.

http://macaulay.cuny.edu/seminars/bergman09/content/moma-visit#comments baruch Fri, 20 Nov 2009 03:30:54 +0000 itzkevinn 377 at http://macaulay.cuny.edu/seminars/bergman09 String Quartett http://macaulay.cuny.edu/seminars/bergman09/content/string-quartett
To say the truth, the Alexander String Quartet was nothing special to me. It was just another musical performance that I went to go see. Throughout my life, I have been going to many musical concerts, especially strings. I played violin in elementary, middle and high school. I know exactly what is going on during the concerts and I can really relate to the way that each piece if being played. Despite my incapability of playing as well as them, the concept remains the same. Aside from the negativity, I do have some positive things to say about the concert.

http://macaulay.cuny.edu/seminars/bergman09/content/string-quartett#comments baruch Tue, 17 Nov 2009 04:52:03 +0000 itzkevinn 362 at http://macaulay.cuny.edu/seminars/bergman09 Amazing performance at the Quartet http://macaulay.cuny.edu/seminars/bergman09/content/amazing-performance-quartet
The Quartet was a unique and well performed show. Before I walked into the building, I honestly had no idea what to expect. As I walked into the building, there were many stairs that I had to walk up in order to get to my seats which were located at the very top. It was nothing that i've ever seen before. The seats were so high off the ground that my feet couldn't even touch the floor! Also, the way the seats were set up felt almost as if you were going to fall off. It was quite a unique set up I must say.

http://macaulay.cuny.edu/seminars/bergman09/content/amazing-performance-quartet#comments baruch Sun, 15 Nov 2009 03:41:48 +0000 itzkevinn 345 at http://macaulay.cuny.edu/seminars/bergman09 Carnegie Hall Performance http://macaulay.cuny.edu/seminars/bergman09/content/carnegie-hall-performance
I'd have to say that my visit to Carnegie Hall (for the first time) was quite bizarre. As I approached Carnegie Hall with a bunch of classmates, we came upon multiple entrances. To our surprise, none of these entrances were the right ones. It took us about 10 minutes to figure out where to go and eventually, we met with Jeremy Geffen, the organizer of performances that take place in Carnegie Hall. I wasn't really interested in what he was telling me because I felt as if he wasn't really telling me much.

http://macaulay.cuny.edu/seminars/bergman09/content/carnegie-hall-performance#comments baruch Mon, 02 Nov 2009 02:40:51 +0000 itzkevinn 287 at http://macaulay.cuny.edu/seminars/bergman09 Joseph O'Connor http://macaulay.cuny.edu/seminars/bergman09/content/joseph-oconnor-1
On Thursday, October 22nd 2009, I went to my first ever reading. As I was told about the event by Professor Bergman, I had no idea what kind of event I was going to. As I entered the room filled with other Macaulay students and Baruch faculty members, I still remained clueless. However, as Joseph O'Connor took the stand after a bunch of introductions, I realized where I was, at a reading. Honestly, I had no idea who this guy was because I have never heard of any of his books nor writings. However, I'd have to say that I was quite bored with the reading.

http://macaulay.cuny.edu/seminars/bergman09/content/joseph-oconnor-1#comments baruch Sun, 25 Oct 2009 03:35:51 +0000 itzkevinn 251 at http://macaulay.cuny.edu/seminars/bergman09
