1946—Chinese War Brides Act becomes law.

The War Brides Act allows China-born wives of US citizen veterans to immigrate to US. It places China-born wives of US citizen men on a non-quota basis. Thousands of Chinese women arrive in the US in the few years before the law is changed again.
