How to import YouTube videos

There isn't a lot of YouTube content that is going to be relevant to the subject of this wiki. However, YouTube is an easy way to import video content you make online and then into your wiki.

Let's imagine you've imported a video you've made about your neighborhood onto YouTube. To place the YouTube video onto your wiki pages, complete the following steps.

  1. Navigate to the YouTube page where your video is located.
  2. In the upper right corner of the page, there is an "About this Video" module.
  3. Click on the drop-down triangle. A box for the URL of the video should appear. The url will look something like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6gbMNhnl1SU
  4. Copy down the number that comes after the equal sign.
  5. Navigate to your wiki page where you want to place the code, press "Edit" and scroll to where you want to place your video.
  6. Place the number of your YouTube video within a simple YouTube declaration, like so: <youtube v="6gbMNhnl1SU" />
  7. Save your page, and your video will appear like so:

You'll probably want to write a caption underneath the video, like so: This YouTube video is a Mediwiki tutorial!
