To examine the lifeblood of any community, one must look not just at their establishments in the economy and in education, but at political, social, and cultural institutions as well. These institutions are the support network for new Chinese immigrants. They help the Chinese people learn English, find work, and help their children excel in schools. In fact, this strong network of community and government organizations have had a direct role in educating the American government and public about China and Chinese immigrants. They also help find affordable housing for new immigrants. Other institutions teach people how to use computers, learn language skills, and some even offer free or cheap day care centers for kids in working households.

This support system has allowed newer waves of Chinese immigrants to quickly find a foothold in NY, unlike communities that are less mobilized.
