Dominican Women's Development Center
The Dominican Women’s Development Center is a not-for-profit organization in Washington Heights and Inwood that was created in 1988. El Centro was created to organize low-income women and provide culturally appropriate services to women in the Dominican Community. DWCD hosts programs geared toward the encouragement of Dominican Women and their families. Their currently active programs include Education Development, Economic Development, Nuevo Amanecer: a comprehensive Domestic Violence/Crisis Intervention program, Rising Families General Preventive Program, and El Centro del Desarrollo de la Mujer Dominicana en Puerto Rico.
