I went to the Bronx High School of Science, which was and still is a great place to get an education and to meet fun and interesting people. The school has always reflected the diversity of New York. Where else would a Dominican kid become best friends with a Korean kid? He introduced me to kimchi and I introduced him to sancocho. It was there that I developed a life long interest in computers. I attended Polytechnic University, but stopped short to work for several printing companies. It was during this time, in the late eighties and early nineties that many new information technologies were beginning to transform the industry and it was very exciting. I held various supervisory positions in typesetting and graphic design departments before deciding to go back to school to complete my degree. I enrolled at Baruch College where I received a B.B.A. and M.B.A. in Information Systems. I am currently enrolled in the Ph.D. Business program at the CUNY Graduate Center. My areas of interest include e-commerce business models and strategy, online consumer behavior, digital rights management systems, and information economics. I have co-authored articles that have appeared in Information & Management and the International Journal of Electronic Commerce. My current research is focused on the social-behavioral causes of digital piracy. I have taught object-oriented programming for several years. Currently, I am working at the Macaulay Honors College exploring the use of various instructional technologies including wikis and weblogs. When I am not in front of computers, I indulge in my two other passions – softball and racquetball. I currently reside in the second largest Dominican community outside of Santo Domingo – Washington Heights, NYC. |
