Homosexual community

From The Peopling of NYC

Park Slope also known by many lesbians as "Dyke Slope" is a neighborhood known to be very accepting of the homosexual community. In the 60s and 70s it was a prime location for lesbians to settle. According to the Gay and Lesbian Atlas, a report based on 2000 Census data, Park Slope ranks first among the city's neighborhoods for lesbian couples per capita. However many lesbians can't afford the high real estate of Park Slope and are choosing different areas to live. A report done by the Brooklyn Historical Society shows that from the early 90s many lesbians, mainly Latinas and younger women, found the real estate prices too high and instead settled in places like Sunset Park.
