Juilliard Faculty Recital: Persichetti, Ranjbaran, White

A free Juilliard Faculty Recital with works by the late Vincent Persichetti, Behzad Ranjbaran and Michael White, and the piano trio “Search.” The concert will take place in Morse Hall at Juilliard on Thursday December 4 at 8:00 PM. Juilliard’s address is 60 Lincoln Center Plaza. The new entrance is on 65th street, between Broadway and Amsterdam.

Dear Class,

Those of you who are interested in the commercial value of art and the  auction house, please join me first for a short tour of the exhibit of the Rosenthal collection of African and Oceanic Art at Sotheby and then come to the auction itself.

The artifacts are on display from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the gallery today, tomorrow and Thursday, and the auction takes place Friday at 2:00PM.   I will be happy to take a few of you with me after class or a little later on Thursday.  The objects will not be on display the day of the Auction.

For your group projects, the e-reserve articles and books can be a great resource.  Do not forget to look through and listen or read some of them.

Thank you for pointing out the missing text.  I have asked the library and they have put it up.  We also have 3 copies of Amitav Ghosh “Shadow lines” in the library and one on reserve.   I have posted a section of the last chapter for our discussion when the time comes.  For those of you who could use some music background check out the William Felming article, and also the Foucault on Modern music.
