Arie Monas

Arie Monas ’21 is an Economics major and Chemistry minor. He is very passionate about medicine, economics and the intersection between the two disciplines. Arie interned at the NYU Langone Skirball Institute of Biomolecular Medicine. At NYU, he worked on several research projects, one of which utilized amniotic fluid-derived multipotent stromal cells to ameliorate diabetic wound healing. The abstract he worked on was published in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery – Global Open and was accepted for a podium presentation at the Plastic Surgery Research Council 2020 annual meeting in Canada where it was recognized amongst the top 30 highest rated abstracts out of 700.

In addition to his medical and scientific pursuits, Arie was a Peer Mentor at Brooklyn College for six semesters and a singles and doubles competitor for the Brooklyn College NCAA Division III Men’s Tennis Team. Arie will be attending the SUNY Downstate College of Medicine in the fall.
